An
addition to my logo
You’ll notice the
addition of “Nationwide
Dental Excellence (NWDE)” to
my office logo if you're receiving this by mail. My office has recently
joined this organization of several hundred practices
nationwide. What
we have in common
is an unusual dedication to patient care, communication, and
all-around dental excellence. You’ll be seeing this
logo on more of
my office correspondence as I integrate it into our
printing. You’ll
also see NWDE advertising to promote our
group.
NWDE
will have real live people answering the phone 24 hours
a day seven days a week.
People looking for a dentist who call the NWDE hotline
will be connected to my treatment coordinators during regular business
hours. During the
rest of the week, people at NWDE will serve as a 24/7
answering service.
For
those of you receiving this by email, here's a black and white
version of the new logo:

The
gradual growth of my practice allows me to continue to provide
a high level of continuing education for me and my team. It also allows me to
invest in new technology to constantly improve the level of
service and comfort with which my office can provide
you.
Don’t forget our
open house
Please put it on your calendar:
on
Tuesday
April 4 we’ll be
holding our first-ever Patient Appreciation Open House from
8:30 until 5:30. In the morning we’ll have mini-danish and
our usual selection of tea, coffee, and espresso. Later in the day we’ll
have more substantial munchies and lunchies catered by On a
Roll.
You’re invited to bring
friends and family members with you. For anyone interested
in becoming a patient in our office, extra staff will be on
hand to answer questions. As always, you’ll
receive a $25 gift certificate and our sincere thanks for
anyone you refer from outside your immediate household who
becomes a patient in our practice.
Smiles
for Life 2006
Over the last eight
years our
office has raised over $50,000 for charity through the Smiles
for Life Foundation.
Once again this year, we will be running our fundraiser
from March 1 to June 30.
Here’s
how it works:
Discus Dental (founded by Bill Dorfman of Extreme
Makeover fame) donates top-shelf whitening materials to
participating Smiles for Life dentists. Leo DentaLab in
Woodlyn donates their time and skill to make the bleaching
trays. My team
and I donate our time and expertise to provide you with a
whiter more attractive smile. We waive our usual fee
for bleaching and instead ask that you make a donation of $295
or more to Smiles for Life. Half of the monies we
raise will be distributed to over 200 children’s causes
nationwide by Garth Brooks’ Teammates for Kids
Foundation. The
other half of the money goes to a local charity that we feel
is especially deserving.
It’s usually a cause that is chronically underfunded,
where your donations could do the most good.
CAADC
is the local charity we have chosen for Smiles for Life
2006:

Life---give yourself a new smile and help others at the same
time. And please
tell your friends and family members. You can
participate in Smiles for Life even if you’re not a patient in
my practice.
I recently took two excellent courses. One was on making
implant dentistry as predictable and successful as
possible. The
second was on implant dentistry with an emphasis on improving
aesthetics. Many
thanks to periodontist Scott Garrison for bringing in the
speaker on implant aesthetics. I picked up several
good “pearls of wisdom” thanks to you,
Scott.
The country went off the gold standard
years ago, so gold no longer backs the value of our
currency.
However, our culture hasn’t forgotten about
gold---either its monetary value or its symbolism as something
of great value.
The
streets of heaven have been described as being paved with
gold. We aspire
to live in a golden age which would only be possible if
everyone lived the Golden Rule: “Do unto others as you
would have them do unto you.”
Alchemists
discovered centuries ago that if you held a block of gold
against a block of silver, the interaction between the two
metals would cause flecks of gold to bury themselves in the
block of silver.
One
can think of this process in connection with everyday human
associations. As
we share a handshake, give a cheerful greeting, provide a
service, or pass on an encouraging word, we pick up
flecks of wisdom
and positive influence that put us back on the gold
standard.
When a
survey was taken to determine what people thought the Golden
Rule was, the most common response was, “The one who has the
gold makes the rules.”
According to that same survey, only 50% of Americans
know what the Golden Rule is. Apparently, we have
not been repeating that message enough for people to learn
it.
The best
way to get the message across is by the way we live. We can keep exchanging
those precious gold flecks and increasing our value to the
world in which we live.
Then we will surely be “as good as gold,” and our
actions will serve as a model to encourage
others.
Our
latest $50 winners
Every
month
we
have a drawing for a $50 office credit. We do this to thank
our patients who make appointments that begin between 11 AM
and 3 PM.
By scheduling during a less popular time period you
help our office run more efficiently, so we enter you in our
drawing.
Congratulations to Jeanette Bloomfield for winning the
November drawing and
to December winner Dave Kramer.
